The picture gallery is housed on the piano nobile of the 18th-century Palazzo Mansi that is evidence of the exquisite taste of Lucca's artists and patrons. The piano nobile's interiors are decorated with 17th to 19th-century furniture and textiles. The Gallery displays a collection of 14th to 18th-century Italian and Flemish paintings, among which works by Pontormo, Tintoretto, Veronese, Bronzino, Beccafumi, Borgognone, Reni, Domenichino, Sustermans and others. Other remarkable exhibits: the Newly-Weds Room with a carved and gilded alcove and 18th-century embroidered silk hangings and wall-hangings. There is also a weaving workshop with a period loom.
