Fillungo Street - Lucca

| Address : | Via Fillungo - Lucca |
Threading its way through the medieval heart of the old city is Lucca's busiest street, Via Fillungo. It's a fascinating mix of smart boutiques, restaurants and buildings of great charm and antiquity - often occupying the same space; just look up, above the street-level bustle.
Some areas around San Michele have kept their Medieval structures almost untouched: for example, Corte del Pesce, in the southern sector of the church, Via Santa Lucia with the annexed Corte Pini behind the apse. About 130 tower have been identified or at least document¬ed, but it seems there were many more. The municipality's laws set a limit to their hight because of some disastrous falls and also to try and stop the ambitions and struggles for power among fami¬lies and factions.
