Holy Face: Images of faith and identity

The cultural event takes place about two years after the death of Professor Arnaldo Fazzi, creator and coordinator of the Photographic Archives of Lucca.
This event promoted by the Museums Libraries and Archives of the City of Lucca Donatella Buonriposo was done in collaboration with the staff of the Photographic Archives (coordinated by Maria Pacini Fazzi), who oversaw the selection adding to iconographic images with descriptive captions and with "Digital Photo Lucca, who oversaw the printing and preparation.
The exhibition focuses on the Holy Face, civil and religious expression of the city of Lucca, in short, the anniversary will be celebrated. The selected images, created by two photographers Cortopassi and Eugene Ettore Lucchesi Ghilardi, unpublished images are of great interest to all dedicated to the Holy Cross and compose a picture that is divided between devotion, art and history. In particular, the exhibition highlights the unprecedented celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the arrival of the XXIII of sacred images in Lucca in 1932 and sending its copy in eastern Africa in 1936, after a few months after the proclamation of the Empire, providing an interesting and unusual parallel between contemporary history, local history and history of photography. Interestingly also, is determined by the fact that among the images presented, there is one that emerges with clarity and good visibility a fresco now no longer legible in the Cathedral of San Martino.
This photo shows the highlights its presence as an element of memory and as the value of a dimension that you have, at times, memories dimmed by time and then buying his dignity as a historical source, becoming a real cultural city and justify 'importance of proper storage.
